Our tenants in the Larne area are being urged to be vigilant when opening the door to strangers following a burglary last week.
Bogus callers, claiming to be from the Housing Executive, gained access to a home in the Craigy Hill area and stole a number of items including a sum of money.
Mid and East Antrim Area Manager, Mairead Myles Davey, said;
“We understand the bogus callers told the tenants they were there carry out work to the garden.
“While one tenant was distracted in the garden with one of the callers, two accomplices ransacked the house. This robbery has been very distressing for the people living at this property.
“We would ask local residents to be on their guard when opening the door. All our staff carry identification and their identity can be verified by calling the phone number printed on the pass. If in doubt, contact your local Housing Executive office or the police.”
